Night markets are common not just in Thailand but throughout most of Asia. However they all tend to have the same kind of souvenirs, local handicrafts, and traditional foods. Same same but different, as they say. Until I found Jatujak Green ‐ more commonly known as JJ Green night market ‐ the best place in Bangkok to go for souvenir shopping because of the truly unique items for sale there.
Welcome to JJ Green Night Market
JJ Green night market is the laidback, quirky, bohemian little sister of the massive Chatuchak Weekend Market just down the road. Nestled on all four sides by green parks, JJ Green is as much a social hangout for grabbing beers with friends as it is for vintage shopping. From antique cameras to modern drones, cacti to spare muffler parts, retro video game systems to every type of jewelry and fashion accessory you can think of….it is all here at Jatujak Green. But it isn’t just vendors — there are even several bars and live music venues in the mix!
Of course, no night market is complete with food!
This food stand had more than a dozen different fried snacks. Onions, potatoes, various types of mushrooms, flowers and plant leaves….so much stuff! Pick your size cup, pack it full with whatever you want to eat, grab a couple of large wooden toothpicks to keep your hands clean and voila, you’ve got a meal on the go!
This is the most delicious seaweed I have ever tasted. Each one of those balls was filled with liquid — it was like eating miniature grapes! Oh so amazing 😀
You know you are in Thailand when everywhere has food on a stick 😉
Cool & Quirky Clothing Shopping At JJ Green
JJ Green is also known as one of the best places in Bangkok for unique clothing shopping. New, used and vintage, there is clothing, shoes and accessories to be found here for everyone.
How To Get To JJ Green Night Market
Take the green Sukhumvit Line north to the final station, Mo Chit, and exit there. JJ Green is located inside of Chatuchak Park. You can either cut through the park or walk around it then up Kamphaeng Phet Road. Look for the large JJ Green sign (pictured above).
Merchandise mecca!
Oh yeah so much cool stuff Susan…would have purchased a lot more if I had a “home” 😉
Lucky you don’t have a home then as the majority of the stuff purchased would be shite!
I’ve always been good at collecting shit Marty
