Singapore

Singapore

Ahhh Singapore. The little nation that could. This is Asia for beginners. Although they graciously give visitors from most nations 90 days visa-free entry, all you really need is three or maybe four days tops to see it all. Singapore may surprise first time visitors but it is also small.

Having recently celebrated 50 years of independence, the nation is a beautiful modern metropolis with an interesting culture similar to their nearby neighbors, particularly Malaysia and China. With colorful festivities and celebrations, here you relax at some of the fanciest resorts Southeast Asia. Indulge in those western amenities that we tend to take for granted until they are not available, such as cold AC, hot showers, tap water that is actually safe to drink, and last but not least truly high-speed internet, including perfect 4G cell service everywhere, even deep underground in the subway and shopping malls 😉

UNFORTUNATELY…

Singapore is the only country in Southeast Asia with no UNESCO sites AND the most expensive nation in Southeast Asia — nearly Japan/Korea-level expensive. Those $30 coffee shop brunches and $15 beers add up fast. A wild Saturday night out on the town can easily set you back $300-$400! 😱   All the more reason to get in, go sightseeing, and get out.

First Impressions: Singapore, The Little Nation That Could

From the moment I landed in Singapore’s Changi International Airport I was impressed.
